A little about me
I learned to recognise birds before I could write my own name. What started as a childhood hobby slowly grew into a passion, and that passion into a motivation: to see the beauty of the natural world, and to leave it a little better than I found it.
That path led me to study Biology at Ghent University in Belgium, followed by a master's in Global Change Ecology. For my research I went to the cloud forests of Kenya, studying how a cooperatively breeding bird copes with a changing forest.
For me, birding is also a way to slow down. Standing still, listening and waiting teaches you to notice what is around you, and what is going on inside you. I have a soft spot for species dressed in black and white with striking patterns, and when I am not outside, you will probably find me playing the blues on my guitar.
