Biodiversity in NbS

Example · Colombian Amazon

For a 50,000 ha REDD+ and ARR carbon project in the Colombian Amazon, I designed the with- and without-project biodiversity scenarios and established the biodiversity baseline. From there I built the biodiversity monitoring plan and set up participatory workshops with local communities to define the indicators used for validation and verification.

Deliverables

  1. 01Biodiversity baseline: species lists and habitat mapping for project areas
  2. 02With- and without-project scenarios following various standards (Verra, Equitable Earth, Gold standard)
  3. 03Monitoring plan setting out indicators, methods and sampling frequency as well as designing participatory workshops for and with local communities
  4. 04Biodiversity strategy design

Ecological surveys for EIA

Example · Sweihan, UAE

Assisting a client with an EIA in Sweihan, I surveyed the site using walked transects and fixed point counts to record species diversity and abundance across its habitats. Alongside the visual surveys I set up acoustic recorders, capturing species which complements traditional fieldwork results.

Birding workshops

For the curious · No experience needed

Never picked up a pair of binoculars? Perfect. Together we head outdoors, find birds and learn to tell them apart by how they look and sound. There is a real thrill in spotting one you have never seen before. You don't need to become a birder for life. Think of it as a few hours away from the city: slowing down, clearing your head and having a lot of fun along the way.
